Discover Xi Hu Long Jing and the rarity of the first flush of 2026

25th April 2026 – The First Sip of Spring, A Green Tea Tasting & Heritage Workshop where you will discover the rare first flush of Xi Hu Long Jing (Dragon Well) green tea.

The Birthplace of Green Tea

Green tea traces its origins to ancient China, with legends dating back to 2737 BCE under Emperor Shen Nong, who is said to have discovered tea when leaves drifted into his boiling water. From this serendipitous beginning, tea became a cornerstone of Chinese culture, later spreading across East Asia to shape the tea traditions of Japan and Korea that we know today.

Xi Hu Long Jing – A Tea of Emperors

Among China’s most celebrated teas, Xi Hu Long Jing (West Lake Dragon Well) stands apart. Cultivated in the scenic West Lake region of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, this tea has been revered for over 1,200 years, praised by emperors, scholars, and connoisseurs alike. Its distinctive flat, jade-green leaves and sweet, mellow flavor are the result of meticulous hand-processing and the unique terroir of the Shi Feng (Lion Peak) Mountains, where the land is protected and harvests are limited.

The First Flush Experience

This spring, we bring you the first flush of Xi Hu Long Jing, harvested at the heart of its origin. Traditionally reserved for emperors and the elite, this rare tea is now offered as part of our workshop to share its heritage and artistry with you. Each sip carries centuries of tradition, connecting you to the same tea once celebrated by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, who personally honored Long Jing tea trees during his visits.
